Frequently asked questions
Answers to your questions
A TermoCover is attached to the outside of the skylight, directly on the glazing. This blocks solar energy before it reaches the glass, preventing the space from heating up. The screen is specially developed for the high UV load and temperature fluctuations that occur on the outside of a skylight.
With interior shading, the glass of the skylight still heats up in the sun and radiates that heat into the space. Exterior shading blocks solar energy before the glass, keeping the glass cool and barely any heat reaching the interior. Sheltic exclusively uses exterior shading for maximum heat reduction.
On average, our screens reduce heat transfer through the skylight by 60 to 70%. The exact reduction depends on the orientation of the skylight, the screen type and the local situation.
Yes, and for many businesses that is the primary reason to invest. Skylights are in summer the largest source of heat gain in a commercial building. By keeping that heat out, the HVAC system has to work significantly less. Customers report a noticeable reduction in their energy consumption for cooling, especially in spaces with multiple skylights or a large roof area.
Absolutely. High temperatures and direct glare through skylights demonstrably lead to more errors, less concentration and earlier fatigue. By controlling the temperature and direct light, the working environment becomes more pleasant without the space becoming darker. The difference is immediately noticeable, especially in production spaces, warehouses and offices with many skylights.
Yes. UV radiation is the primary cause of discolouration and degradation of materials, products, floors and machinery. A TermoCover filters more than 90% of UV radiation before it reaches the space. This extends the lifespan of your inventory and prevents loss of value through discolouration or material fatigue.
Yes, that is precisely what our screens are designed for. The weave structure breaks up direct sunlight while allowing diffuse daylight through. Depending on the screen type, 40 to 70% of visible light remains transmitted. The space stays bright, but without the harsh glare that gets in the way of concentration and safety.
In virtually every respect, yes. Whitewashing permanently blocks light, looks untidy and must be reapplied every year. A TermoCover filters heat and UV while preserving daylight, has a professional finish, a service life of more than 10 years and is removable. The one-off investment is therefore also cheaper in the long run than annual whitewashing.
The price depends on the dimensions of your skylight. For an indication you can use our price calculator. The exact price is provided after on-site measurement. The guide price is between €25 and €45 per m².
The installation itself typically takes half a day to a full day, depending on the size and accessibility of the skylight. From quote to installation, allow an average of 4 to 6 weeks.
Yes. We produce every screen to measure, measured by our own specialists. Whether your skylight is standard, dome-shaped or has a special construction, we adapt the screen to your situation.
Certainly. We work together with roofers, skylight installers and maintenance companies who offer our product to their own customers. You receive an attractive partner margin and we take care of production and, if desired, installation. See our reseller page for more information.
No, not significantly. Our screens are designed to filter heat and UV radiation without making the space dark. Depending on the chosen screen type, 40 to 70% of visible light remains transmitted. We are happy to advise which screen best suits your situation.
Our shading screens are made from UV-resistant technical fabrics with a high heat reflection coefficient. The materials are selected for their resistance to the extreme temperature fluctuations and UV loads that occur on the outside of skylights. The expected service life is more than 10 years.
Our screens require minimal maintenance. A periodic visual inspection is sufficient. If the screen becomes dirty, it can be cleaned with water and a mild detergent. If in doubt about the condition of the screen, you can always contact us for advice or an inspection visit.
Yes. The screen is attached with a system that allows dismantling. At the end of the service life or during renovation, the screen can be removed and replaced. Removal and reinstallation can be carried out by our own fitters or, after consultation, by a certified installation partner.
